Drawing Lessons for ChildrenIntegrate drawing instruction into your curriculum to help all of your students learn basic drawing skills -- skills that will enhance their desire and ability to draw creatively on their own. The poppy lesson, shown to the right, begins by looking at a flower or a drawing of a flower and focusing the attention on the basic shapes and lines. As the children notice the details, they learn to draw what they see. Regular drawing lessons enrich the curriculum, giving the children a chance to experiment with scale and proportion.Nurture creativity by encouraging the children to complete their drawing using their own ideas. In the poppy drawing shown here, Jessie decided to add a bee and butterfly, chose to use a low horizon line, and balanced the picture with a yellow sun in the corner. Her finished drawing is unique and beautiful. See our suggestions for fitting drawing instruction into your classroom or home schedule. |
